Well mom, I bet you never thought that comment would be so true! This past weekend I went to the best concert....ever. And this is not sarcasm haha.
To think so many years later I would be attending my first ever New Kids concert. The whole time I kept thinking how cheesy....yet how wonderful the whole idea was. To look around and see thousands of women (not girls) singing along to all of the songs, fist pumping away, and screaming like crazy with the sight of "THE LETTERS" was so interesting to see. For the first time in a long time I thought of nothing else but what I was there for...to see 5 of the most handsome men perform their old and new songs. For the first time in a long time I was not stressed about school, thinking about what I was going to teach at Sign class, worried about money, or all of the other everyday issues. I enjoyed every second of that concert. I sang my heart out. I danced. I screamed. I did not faint. But I was 8 years old again...or 13 years old again like when I tried to revive NKOTB.
I am happy that they stuck to their true identity. Jon is still a dork that never looks up. Donnie still is gangsta. Jordan still shows his abs minus the rat tail. Danny still looks like a monkey...but can break dance like crazy. Joe still fashions his smiley face leather jacket..and according to Lisa and many other women, is still the favorite.
Their music is still cheesy with lyrics like "Yea I'm like Swazy" or "Gotta know if you're mad at me before Gray's Anatomy".
They still allow their fans to wear oversized buttons. (Nothing like "the buttons and the pins and the loud fanfare!")
They still sing their oldies but goodies...with only minor dance move changes.. let's face it, their not so young anymore.
It was great to see my sisters having a great time, too. And everyone else for that matter.
Who would have thought an 80's - 90's group could make my day, my week, my month, maybe even my year :)
I WILL LOVE THE NEW KIDS FOREVER!
Now...for your viewing pleasure....
